DAY SEVEN

Do you read? What are your favorite books?

Well, of course I read. I don't want to associate with people who avoid/hate reading..

Favorites would have to be Beloved, Frankenstein, Rebecca, and A Separate Peace. I'm not quite sure what else there is to say except that everyone should read! #annoyinglibrarianvoice

DAY SIX

What band or musician is most important to you?

Lady Gaga, hands down.

Had it not been for her music & her amazing quotes/mind, I don't think I'd be quite as mentally & emotionally sound as I am today. I love what she stands for and the fact that as a celebrity, she RARELY ever gets full of herself. She genuinely loves her fans, so much so, that she says she's their mother and honestly acts like one too. She saw her fans waiting outside of some late night talk show that she was going to be on and they had been waiting their since the previous day - what did she do? She got pizza for them. I would love to see other celebrities do so much for their fans as she does.

She writes music while on tour, which in and of itself is a feat since most artists nowadays hire someone to write their music. She does this, yet also always makes time for her family, by calling them every night. The first Monster Ball aka tour that she had, she paid for all the expenses out of her own pocket with the money she had raised on her CDs/merchandise. She was in debt by the end of the tour - look where she is now. She's changing so many things and inspiring so many people, even other celebrities. Honestly, if you compare Katy Perry from 2009 to now, there is an incredible difference, because everyone has to compete for attention now in comparison to Lady Gaga. You can't watch Katy Perry's music video for "ET" without even thinking she took some inspiration from Gaga's videos.

She's amazing and she's accomplished so much within 6 years. She started from meager beginnings, but she was determined and knew what she wanted. She didn't take no for an answer and when she was met with adversity, she pulled through. She is a legitimate example of where hard work & passion gets you.

I know her music isn't for everyone, but she is such a beautiful & honest person. I think it's damn near impossible to hate her unless you refuse to look past the surface and just accept public opinion as fact.

I can't even begin to think of another musician nowadays like her or even one that inspires or gives me hope even half as much as she does.

DAY FIVE

Five places I want to visit
  1. Japan. I would say a specific part, but honestly, I just want to see ALL of what Japan has to offer. First pit stop would be Miyazaki's museum <3
  2. New York. Up until 2008, I hadn't been anywhere in the US, but then on a family vacation, we landed in Texas & flew to California, did the tourist bit, then we went to Washington to do more touristy things. I wanna go to NY so badly :C I wanna see a Yankees game, even if the stadium isn't legit anymore; I wanna be able to have something that's open 24 hours, besides a Walmart; I wanna experience being in an actual city & seeing the towering buildings & the hustle and bustle.
  3. Spain. Preferably where my kingdom is at :P but I wanna see where my family lived. I don't know the place off the top of my head, except that it starts with an M and it's not Madrid, but it's near Madrid. My grandparents/great grandparents moved to NY after selling the family plantation, so I'd love to be able to see it if it's still there. Also, I wanna spend New Year's here & do the New Year's challenge :D
  4. South Korea. Just to see SHINee or even just to see them perform :P
  5. Australia. So I can see kangaroos and koalas, because we all know that's all that lives there. The SECOND I see some mondo spider is when I leave though. DO NOT WANT.

This just seemed appropriate for today...

"You think because he doesn’t love you that you are worthless. You think that because he doesn’t want you anymore that he is right — that his judgment and opinion of you are correct. If he throws you out, then you are garbage. You think he belongs to you because you want to belong to him. Don’t. It’s a bad word, ‘belong.’ Especially when you put it with somebody you love. Love shouldn’t be like that. Did you ever see the way the clouds love a mountain? They circle all around it; sometimes you can’t even see the mountain for the clouds. But you know what? You go up top and what do you see? His head. The clouds never cover the head. His head pokes through, because the clouds let him; they don’t wrap him up. They let him keep his head up high, free, with nothing to hide him or bind him. You can’t own a human being. You can’t lose what you don’t own. Suppose you did own him. Could you really love somebody who was absolutely nobody without you? You really want somebody like that? Somebody who falls apart when you walk out the door? You don’t, do you? And neither does he. You’re turning over your whole life to him. Your whole life, girl. And if it means so little to you that you can just give it away, hand it to him, then why should it mean any more to him? He can’t value you more than you value yourself."
- Toni Morrison

I'm pretty sure I'm going to print this out, so I can always read this whenever I want/need to. The relevancy of this quote astounds me, as well as the fact I just so happened to find it while exploring Tumblr. For me, this is exactly what I had to hear.

DAY FOUR part 2

here's a Youtube video for Caged Bird, as well as the lyrics; it's too amazing to keep to myself ♥

English translation:

How high would I have to fly
To lose sight of you, so far away?

If I turn my eyes away, I might feel better.
But I want to always be looking at you from somewhere.

Because there's no way I could forget you.
At my wits' end, I simply keep staring up at the sky.
It's almost as if I were like a small bird inside a cage,
Searching for the window, aimlessly wandering around.

I want to see you right away, because I love you,
Even though I want to run away because I'm scared of being hurt.
If this unseen barrier around me should tear away my wings,
Still, you are so precious to me that it makes me sad.

DAY FOUR

The meaning behind my Tumblr name

This blog = I'm obsessed with the sky. In fact, I've contemplated on having Sky being a middle name for the children I'll have years down the road! You can blame Guys & Dolls for that, but seriously. Sky Masterson is the most bamf name ever; it's not my fault I want to grace my future awesome kids with it as well! Anyway.. staring up at the sky as well as the URL came from a Japanese song/compsition by Miyamoto Shunichi, which I know I've posted on here WAY back when, but it's called Caged Bird. I've wanted to learn it on the piano, but unfortunately, I'm a noob and am incapable of doing multiple things at once, ie. hands playing two different things. It's a beautiful song <3 It should come to no surprise that I'd want to pay tribute to what used to be my absolute favorite song, as well as a part of nature that always makes me appreciate this world we live in.

Tumblr = this should be obvious. Seriously, you must have been living under a rock if you can't tell that I was/am the King of Spain :P

DAY THREE

My day, in GREAT detail: (I'll upload as the day goes on..)
  1. Went to sleep at 1am, after having watched Durarara!! which is, as expected, an excellent show thus far. It made me want to watch the sub episodes in order to curb my excitement for the dubs.
  2. Woke up at 630am & finished an anime series I had been watching, then I started to read the manga until my family woke up. I dislike reading manga on the computer when they are up for the fact that it's hardly appropriate and because I dislike having them ask questions about it.
  3. I had breakfast :D
  4. Watched Durarara!! with dad and then saw the new Spongebob with both mom and dad.
  5. Went to go see Cars 2 at 9:45am at AMC. The theater was packed, but we got the seats with the railings which are the best seats ever.
  6. I was super disappointed to the point of near depression about the short they showed before Cars 2. I won't reveal much, but since it's a Disney/Pixar compilation, you can expect to see familiar faces. Unfortunately, the one face I wanted to see, was missing. DAMN YOU, JOHN LASSETER. YOU'RE A PHONY.
  7. After the movie, we went to Panera Bread for lunch. Austin wasn't working when we went, which was disappointing, but the food was delicious!
  8. Went to Target & then to Sally's Hair Salon. Contemplated on getting my hair cut while my parents are traversing the country; I might actually go to a legit hair place to get it cut, instead of having my mom cut my hair, which is why I usually roll.
  9. Came back home & it's been pouring buckets!
  10. Explained to my mom who Slenderman was and showed her pictures. She seemed unfazed.
  11. Played Rock Band with mom & dad for an hour. I played the bass, dad on guitar, and mom on the microphone :P we played like 12 songs in a row, so needless to say, my pinky is dying. I also got to sing Bohemian Rhapsody, which no matter how much I love that song, I cannot for the life of me sing it on pitch with the song.
  12. Dad put Avatar on & Mom started freaking out about it, because she doesn't understand the concept of water-bending, etc. Dad loves the cartoon & the movie. I'm pretty sure he'd watch the sequel if M.Night Shyamalan actually got the money to make one.
  13. Went and ate at Sonny's for dinner. I wore my pajamas, because I'm a boss and I don't give a fuh :D
  14. We discussed many life questions, such as, "If a male celebrity walked in the door right now, who would you want it to be?" & "If you could steal anything from the past and bring it to the future, what would you take?".
  15. Mom & Dad kept quoting that damn "New York, New York" movie and saying how funny it would be to troll Bart & Jess by loosely quoting the movie around them. Sometimes, I wonder how I manage to have any friends when I've been raised in a troll environment.
  16. We listened to Frank Sinatra on the way back home and took the SUPER scenic route, in which we looked at houses, one of which was an abandoned log cabin. Seriously. It's an abandoned, two story log cabin. I decided that's where Slendy lives.
  17. I tumbled and did my thing on the internet, while mom & dad watched Daddy Day Care.
  18. Dad gave Tito a shower & they trimmed his nails. Now when he walks around, you can't hear him. I'm concerned, because now that doubles my chances of accidentally stepping on him when the lights are completely off.
  19. I got a shower and Mom suggested painting my toe nails in order to reminisce about the days when I was little and actually liked her doing that sort of thing.
  20. She painted them a light blue and kinda massaged my legs/tops of feet! I almost fell asleep.
  21. Here I am, on here, telling you about my day in GREAT detail. For future reference, I will continue to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr until I end up going to sleep. I will also probably read, as well, if that strikes my fancy. Maybe, I'll even go to sleep soon. I live recklessly as you can tell.

That's my Sunday.. surprisingly eventful, but they are trying to make it up to me since I'll be alone soon. As my dad so quaintly stated before Cars 2 started, "on Tuesday, you'll wake up and be all alone."

DAY ONE

Write some basic things about yourself.
  • My name is Jessica.
  • My favorite color is blue.
  • I am incredibly tall for a female.
  • I have brown hair and hazel eyes, although sometimes I just say I have brown eyes, because I don't like arguing with people, nor do I want them staring deeply into my irises. Some days they are plain brown, but then other days, it's brown with flecks of green. I find my eyes interesting.
  • I tend to ramble about things no one cares about ^
  • My friends and family are really important to me, so their problems become my problems. I usually take it upon myself to help them. That might be a pride thing, because I honestly think I can cheer anyone up/correct their problems, but I worry sometimes that I do more harm than good.
  • I'm not quite sure when we cross from "basic facts" to "complex inner machinations of my mind" so I'm just going to end this here :D

Ol' Blue Eyes ♥

Words can never truly encapsulate the impact this man has had on my childhood or how moved I am when I hear this song.

I wish artists would make profound pieces of music like this nowadays: something so simple, yet holds so much power and feeling.

Who cares if it's for Tumblr?
